ART dump no. 1
I usually end my newsletter with a playlist, some music I’m listening to, a book I’m reading, etc.
But it’s time for a change.
The transition no longer feels organic. So instead, I want to share more chaotic art dumps. My own art, and art I’m enjoying.
I started a new project this week, or more aptly, I realized I am working on a project this week. Usually I look up to find myself in the middle of The Work, never having consciously started.
For now, all I’ll say about this new work is this:
If you follow me on Instagram, or saw the cover of my upcoming collection, then you know I’ve experimented a lot with collages recently. Here is one I’m only sharing on Substack:
In my heart, it pairs with this one:
Now what was I listening to while I created these pieces?
I created a playlist called “I’m Still Scared of All the Monsters” for the month of March, and can’t stop listening to it. The title track is “Monsters” by Janeece, who is ear candy personified.
In addition to her album “The Sun Will Come Out,” I have been listening to Annabelle Dinda’s album “Some Things Never Leave” on repeat. When I played “Snow on the Bluff” by the Evening Elephants, my husband said, “you would like this song.”
I chuckled.
The other thing that’s been in my ears is looooong audio books. I recently read and loved “A Little Life” by Hanya Yanagihara, though please look up/read trigger warnings. “The Poppy War” has been filling my fantasy void recently, and I am both so glad to finally be reading it, and glad I waited so long. Sometimes you need to wait to fully appreciate something, and that’s okay!
Since reading longer books (and processing some Big Grief), I am not on track to read more than 10 books this month. I even broke my 400 day reading streak this month - and that’s okay.
Sometime soon I will watch something other than the Twilight Saga, but for now, I’m stuck in my ways.
My husband and I are going to a concert in March, which I can’t wait to tell you about. When I was younger, I was at a random show almost every weekend. Part of coming back to myself in the last couple years is rediscovering the joy of a sleazy indie show.
On that note, I’ll see you in a few weeks <3

This post was epicly groundbreaking, and I absolutely love the collages. Thank you for sharing!
